i really love to use candles and flame lanterns for the proper lighting at parties at my house...
it also works well for tree triming parties...
mulled wine and nice background music add just the right touch, that and a roaring fire in the fireplace...
it really is something that i love : )

Re: things that i love
Thu, January 24, 2008 - 6:25 AMI really like and enjoy alot of things but love is to strong of a word to attach to objects and things. I have a place that I enjoy the most and have the fondest memories of but I could never say I love the place. I have to reserve that word for the people or persons that can trully understand the full extent of emotion from which it comes.
I trully like and enjoy and revial in many things, places, smells, sounds but love only people worthy of such a gift. -

Re: things that i love
Thu, January 24, 2008 - 12:08 PMi remember seeing just a branch of a christmas tree, just around the edge of a doorway at my moms ...
it was just the end of a branch, with just a red glass christmas ornament hanging from it, and just one red lit bulb showing...
...you could see the tree in all it's glory reflected in the glass ball... and the different color shadows cast from all the branches...
i was very young at the time... but this image will stay with me...
it brings tears of joy to me...
this simple single branch and light and glass ball with all its reflection...
it reminds me of my friends... i only see a part of who they are, but can see their whole being reflected in their eyes... and it brings me great joy : D -

Re: things that i love
Wed, February 27, 2008 - 9:37 AMD'ner, I had a very similar experience when I was younger. At Disneyland, no less. I saw the reflection of the castle in a small creek, under a bridge one night.
Except it didn't seem to be the Disney castle. It seemed, very, very much, to be the thing the Disney castle was supposed to be. It was...different somehow.
I know, it being the Disney castle, it's kind of corny. But I really felt, and still feel, that I was looking at something extraordinary. Like that glimpse in the creek was reflecting back magic and dreams and yearning.
Put it this way: It is the moment I remember most about that entire trip. -

Wed, February 27, 2008 - 10:20 AMDulcinaya,
Having just recently returned from the Disney World "Pilgramage" a few weeks ago the magic was re-newed for me mostly thru the eyes of my girls. It was amazing what they saw and what they didn't. For instance We went to the Animal Kingdom park and toured the animal hospital section and got to see lots of neat things behind glass but on getting back out ot the park we noticed all sort of wildlife that was indigenous. The newts (salamanders) were every where and pretty soon the girl would notice them, even when they blended in. The vareity in birds there was amazing too. Not just imported but indigenous ones too.
I look myself to the water for inspiration and never disregard reflections. They seem to be important at times. -

Thu, January 24, 2008 - 11:12 AMAs I lay in the snow with my son making snow angels today I realized that I love my life. I adore that I am allowed more play than work because the work I do have to do I make fun. I love to play and have fun and smile all the time. Seriously my day to day is just fantastic and I guess I atribute most of that to my little guy. So yeah......I love him more than any thing.
I love jasmine tea and hardly ever get to have any.
I love the ocean. Everything about it. Sitting on the beach brings me such serenity and joy.
I love walking barefoot outside
And man do I love to sleep so that I may dream

Fri, January 25, 2008 - 2:23 PMalley walks...
me and some friends like to take walks thru our town and our neighborhood, but it is really nice to get a view of these familar places from different points of view...
houses and businesses and everything is made to have a certain look, this is usually from the front of the property... this is the face of our world,
with an 'alley walk'... you try to walk from point A to point B by sticking to alleys and/or paths that are not the usual way-thru places... it is good to do as a group, so that you don't find yourself suprised by mischevious elements... but it really is a good way to get a feel of the ground and the lay of the land -

Fri, January 25, 2008 - 2:25 PMi have found antique stores and taverns and cool places that are not easily seen by doing the alley walks -

Re: things that i love
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 7:48 AMI wanted to respond to two of D'ner's posts (and I never know where my post will end up here, so I'm talking about "thunderstorms, and scents of firewood, rain, and hot chocolate" and then "alley walks".
One of my most favorite Pennsic moments was getting the day rained completely out (you know, several of my most favorite Pennsic moments involve being trapped in camp by a downpour. I see a pattern here. And a lesson.) It was a gray, chilly downpour, so we sat under a tarp in Swamp, where our camp is, just hanging out. We could smell mud, rotting wood, green leaves, the creek. The wet ashes smouldering in the firepit. Fresh split wood that we'd just ordered for the party we hoped to be able to have that night (we did. The rain stopped. ) We sat for hours enjoying each other, my tribe and members of the other tribes that share the Court of Miracles. Laughing and joking and huddled together against the damp and chill. And we drank hot chocolate with marshmallows. :-) Magic.
Alley Walks: I remember years ago being in Charleston, SC a lot and we used to do this. Off the beaten track in Charleston is a beautiful, fascinating thing. Charleston is a historic city, full of ruins and ancient, hidden things. Well, as ancient as you can get in this country, pretty much. A bunch of us came out of an alley one dark night, late, and heard music coming from an open church door.
Light spilled out of the doorway toward us like a beacon , and through the stain glass rose windows, glowing colors spilled all over the front sidewalk and stairs. Nobody said anything, we all just did the same thing. We very silently sat down on the ground in the spangled colors near the door, and listened to a choir sing Jerusalem. Huddled by the door of a 250 year old church with friends, listening to beautiful voices singing on a georgeous summer night in a historic city. Not something you could ever pay for or even plan.
When they finished, we just as silently got up and slipped away.
It's one of my favorite memories. -
