The Pennsic "Kübler-Ross" Model

Since discovering that many of the rest of you get "Pennsic Anxiety" dreams too...maybe this, too, is a shared experience.

In that spirit I give you...

"The Five Stages of Pennsic Pre-Prep..."

1. DENIAL: "WHAT? It can't possibly be August already."

2. ANGER: "F#$%ing sewing! F#$%ing packing! F#$%ing car trouble! F#$%ing shorted paycheck! Heat dust sweat crowding potential camp draaAaaAaaahma, driving driving driving driving (and more driving) I can't take it not again arRrrgGh!"

3. BARGAINING: "C'mon. It'll be worth it once you're out there. There's, um, unicorns and rainbows actually. And Dove Bars growing on trees and s***."

4. DEPRESSION: "Why do I do this to myself every year?"

5. ACCEPTANCE: "Well, better go load up the car..."

*sigh*

Well. Better go load up the car. :P

    1) Denial: I have plenty of time to pack it's a month away. (now it's 12 days eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!)

2)Anger: Shut up! I will too be packed early this year.

3)Barganing: If I can just get this done first everything else will be easy.

4)Depression: Why do I do this to myself every year(garb searching at 3am the night before we leave)

5)Acceptance:Well better go help the husband load the trailer.

So, I'm sitting down, watching the idiot box, mending garb, putting ribbon in the chemise and my pile is quickly growing smaller then I get this miner emergency and had to take a (sight impaired) friend and her daughter to the hospital ER - the daughter cut herself on the knee with broken glass (no stitches but that's only because the girl got hysterical at that thought)....so she was super glued instead. I got home at 1130 and just went to bed...I was so confident I could get through that pile last night. I need to wash my bedding (and fabric for 2 pair of pants) that the felines have used all year and do some pre-cooking (sugar free almond cookies and a few meat pasties)...

Anyone know how long meat pasties will last in the cooler? I bought some really nice beef at the farmers market and thought I'd use that to make the pasties...

So, I know that there won't be chocolate milk, but I wonder if the store will carry milk for war? Lately I've had cravings for drinking milk. I don't have to worry about the car, I'm carpooling (yeah!)....I've started my staging area...of course I don't have much storage and the tarps and chairs are already in the trunk...need citronella oil...

      OK, I'm stopping now....

      Is it here yet?

      D.

Not sure how the pasty project is going; but my lord's knight and his lady routinely go to Pennsic and live off of a cooler of ready-to-cook kebabs, which they've prepped and frozen in advance.

Provided you have the means to keep frozen goods frozen (i.e., I think they might have a mini-freezer in back of camp) it sounds like a great way to keep food-costs down.

I wouldn't mind surviving off of mainly pasties at War. :) Just make sure there's plenty of HP sauce!
