Re: What do you put in your flask?
Thu, February 28, 2008 - 6:29 AMI have 2 flask and 3 ceramic canteen jugs. One always has tullamor dew. The others will have what ever else I decide to bring. One year it was homemade pepper vodka. It is funny how you can sip something and people ask what you have in the jug. Tell them vodka and watch them take a large mouthfull. The funny part is when someone else sees it and thinks it cant be that bad and takes a large swig.
Just as stated by Douglas Adams,
"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. " -

Thu, February 28, 2008 - 6:24 PMAzhrde, if I should find my way to your campfire this Pennsic, should I bring some Irish Mist? I think that was a good idea of Cowboy's.
My first choice would have been mead, but I'm open to suggestion. -

Re: What do you put in your flask?
Thu, February 28, 2008 - 4:51 PMMy brother gave me an awesome flask. It has my "f" on the belt hanger, and two flasks, with Omegas on the lids.
I try to keep one side Irish and the other scotch, with various different flavors of both, depending on availability.
I have been enjoying Kilbeggan Irish lately. I don't know where to get it in the 'States.
I found something really, really cool about the flask two years ago. It is heavy gauge steel, with a heavy leather cover, and when full, it can take a greatsword hit without any visible damage. I had forgotten that it was on my belt. I was so stunned when I found out it got hit that I was done for the day. When I realized it was fine, I was ready to storm the gates of hell with a butterknife.

Re: What do you put in your flask?
Fri, February 29, 2008 - 5:18 AMI have two regular flasks; One for whatever dirty scotch I'm drinking, and the other for a milder scotch that other people will like. (nothing worse than people making a face after slugging a scotch you like)
I also have two wooden boxes, one with two small glasses, and the other with five small glass flasks. I'll fill these with scotches that are too good to drink out of a flask, since good scotch should be nosed. Sometimes I'll fill them with something else, like a series of Tokays.
Sometimes I carry a metal flask of absinthe.
Question #2: How do you carry your flask?
I have one with a leather loop that I put around my wrist so it doesn't hit the ground, one that has a leather belt pouch tailored to fit it, and a box with belt loops to hold the set of small delicate glass flasks. The metal flask I just toss in a pouch or in my boot.
